Learning from a water-quality experiment
A laboratory exercise comparing oxygen measurements across water dilutions, with an unexpected pattern that made careful interpretation central to the report.
Where the work began.
Environmental measurements need both a procedure and a critical reading of the result. In this Environmental Biotechnology laboratory exercise, our team examined water samples at different dilutions using dissolved-oxygen measurements over five days.
I participated as a member of the laboratory group. Our shared report records the measurements and acknowledges the uncertainty in interpreting them.
A shared process.
- 01
Our team compared a water sample, a diluted sample, and a distilled-water control.
- 02
The report recorded initial and final dissolved-oxygen readings as part of a biological oxygen demand exercise.
- 03
An unexpected higher calculated value in the diluted sample prompted discussion of possible reading or calculation errors.
The work we can point to.
- A jointly authored BOD laboratory report submitted to Mr. Abdisa on 26 November 2025.
- A comparison of samples and a discussion of an unexpected result requiring further checking.
The method description and dilution calculations need further review. The reported BOD values are not presented here as validated water-quality findings or evidence of a cleanup intervention.
