A fertilizer concept for smallholder farming
A proposal connecting organic-waste fermentation, quality assessment, and local distribution around a practical question for Ethiopian smallholder agriculture.
Where the work began.
Our team examined whether locally available organic materials could support a more accessible fertilizer supply. The idea linked a biotechnology process with the practical needs of smallholder farmers: how a product might be produced, assessed, explained, and distributed locally.
I collaborated with three teammates on the liquid organic fertilizer concept. Our document presents a shared proposal, with expected benefits kept separate from demonstrated results.
A shared process.
- 01
We developed a concept for collecting organic materials and processing them through fermentation with starter cultures.
- 02
The proposed process considered monitoring, filtration, nutrient assessment, and packaging rather than treating production as a single step.
- 03
The document also explored farmer awareness and local distribution as parts of making a scientific idea useful.
The work we can point to.
- A jointly authored concept document on production and distribution of liquid organic fertilizer.
- A proposed process connecting fermentation, quality checks, and local agricultural use.
The document is a proposal, rather than a completed field trial. Crop yields, farmer income, product safety, and production costs were not established by this work.
